Key members of our team
Jonathan qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and initially worked on a wide range of commercial, consumer, and civil disputes. He later specialised in personal injury law, achieving significant settlements for clients affected by life-changing accidents.
In 2011, Jonathan expanded his practice to focus on NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding, helping clients reclaim unlawful top-up fees and pursue claims related to neglect, particularly relating to pressure sore injuries and accidents in hospitals and care homes. Known for his dedication, tenacity, and personable approach, he is committed to securing the best possible outcomes for his clients.
Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys golf, football, and travelling. He is married with two children.
Andrew qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and began his career in London before returning to Manchester to specialise in personal injury law. He has worked on several high-profile cases, including the House of Lords case Horton v Sadler (2006).
Since 2011, Andrew has focused on NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding, leading a specialist team to support families navigating the complex funding process. He is also an Affiliate Member of SOLLA (Society of Later Life Advisers).
Andrew is married to Tanya and has four children. Outside of work, he enjoys staying busy with family life.
Ruth became Head of CHC in 2023. She is responsible for managing the CHC team, as well as quality assurance, compliance, and operational strategy. She continues to run a caseload of appeals, specialising in complex claims.
Ruth has been with Farley Dwek since 2019, joining from another law firm. She has worked in Continuing Healthcare since 2016, beginning her career by drafting Needs Portrayal Documents for the NHS which gave her a unique insight into the CHC process. Ruth is committed to helping families access the funding they are entitled to, with a particular interest in spinal cord injuries. She has a keen eye for detail and her background in history has proved invaluable in analysing and presenting complex cases.
Ruth holds a joint honours degree in Classics & French and a master’s degree in Ancient History, with a special interest in ancient Rome.
Outside work, Ruth volunteers at a wildlife hospital and enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog.
Debbie has over 40 years of experience in the legal profession, initially qualifying as a Legal Executive and specialising in personal injury cases. She spent a significant part of her career as Head of the Insurance Department at a large South Yorkshire legal practice before transitioning to Continuing Healthcare (CHC) in 2009.
From 2009 to 2018, Debbie led the Care Costs Department for a large firm, managing a caseload of over 2,500 CHC cases, along with staff training and development. In 2016, she established her own consultancy firm, offering services to other legal firms, including appeal panel representation and ongoing training.
Debbie has worked closely with Farley Dwek since 2012, first meeting Andrew and Jonathan through training. She joined the team in 2018, reducing her working hours to achieve a better work/life balance while continuing to offer her consultancy services.
She is particularly dedicated to helping families navigate the complexities of CHC funding, supporting them through appeals, representation at Local Resolution and Independent Review Panels, and offering training for firms and clients alike. The positive feedback from clients who appreciate her support during challenging times is incredibly rewarding.
In her free time, Debbie enjoys travelling, gardening, reading, and spending time with her beloved family.

Lynn Scott
Continuing Healthcare AdviserLynn joined Farley Dwek in February 2020 to provide maternity cover and was later invited to stay on permanently. She has worked in the field of Continuing Healthcare for 19 years, having spent over a decade chairing Independent Review Panels for NHS England. At Farley Dwek, Lynn uses her experience and expertise to advise on potential eligibility for CHC funding. She also attends Local Review Meetings and Independent Review Panels, supporting clients through the appeals process.
Lynn holds an LLB (Hons) and has completed the Bar Vocational Course. She finds great satisfaction in helping families understand CHC guidelines and securing funding for those who have been unfairly denied support.
In her spare time, Lynn enjoys travelling, walking, cycling, and exploring nature. She also has a keen interest in psychology and science and often reads books and watches documentaries on these topics.
Gill has extensive experience in banking and financial services and has worked in NHS Continuing Healthcare since 2017. She joined Farley Dwek in 2021 as a Senior Case Manager and has developed expertise in handling complex cases, ensuring that clients receive the financial support they are entitled to.
Her role involves navigating detailed assessments, advocating for clients, and challenging unfair decisions on behalf of families. She is passionate about securing funding for those who have been wrongly charged for care.
Stacey joined Farley Dwek in August 2013 to provide maternity cover and quickly became a permanent member of the team. Over the years, she has progressed to a Case Support Officer role, assisting with case management and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
Stacey holds a BA (Hons) in English Language, which has helped her develop strong communication skills and an eye for detail - both essential in her role. She enjoys working in an organised and structured environment and values the close-knit, supportive atmosphere of the team.
Outside of work, Stacey keeps busy with her energetic young daughter, enjoys learning to knit, and is always on the lookout for her next favourite podcast.
Lucy joined Farley Dwek in September 2023 after five years in teaching, seeking a new challenge that would make better use of her skills. As a Junior Case Manager, she manages a small retrospective caseload, applying her critical thinking and analytical skills to support clients. She also assists in the day-to-day management of appeal cases, ensuring that files are accurate and up to date.
Lucy holds a BA (Hons) in Music and a PGCE, both of which have strengthened her ability to think analytically and stay organised. She values the supportive, team-focused environment at Farley Dwek and enjoys working closely with colleagues.
Outside of work, Lucy remains passionate about music. She sings with a large choir in West Yorkshire and several smaller ensembles and is also a keen pianist. She enjoys creative pursuits such as knitting, sewing, and other crafts.
Will joined Farley Dwek in 2024, as a Case Support Officer. He has been instrumental in improving our processes, to aid efficiency and quality assurance.
He holds a BMus degree in Music from the University of Leeds and continues to perform professionally alongside his role at Farley Dwek.
In his free time, Will enjoys playing and listening to music, meditating, golfing (not always successfully), and spending time in nature.
Gill has worked in the legal sector since leaving college, completing a Legal Secretarial Course before beginning her career. She has worked with company directors Andrew and Jonathan for nearly 30 years and joined Farley Dwek when it was established in 2007.
She initially focused on RTA and debt recovery cases before transitioning to Continuing Healthcare. In her current role, she manages client communications, organises case files, and provides administrative support to the legal and clinical team. She takes great pride in supporting families through difficult times and ensuring the process is as smooth as possible.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, going for walks, and catching up over good food and conversation.
Jackie has been with Farley Dwek since our inception in 2007, having worked alongside Andrew and Jonathan at a previous law firm in the 1990s. She joined the team as Andrew's secretary and now works as a Senior Secretary in the Continuing Healthcare (CHC) department.
Jackie liaises with clients and NHS organisations, handling all general administrative tasks within the department. She plays a vital role in client communications, organising case files, and providing administrative support to both the legal and clinical teams. Taking great pride in ensuring that the process runs smoothly for families during difficult times, she is a great asset to the Farley Dwek team.
Outside of work, Jackie enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, going for walks, and travelling abroad.
Michelle has been an integral part of the Farley Dwek team for 16 years, bringing over 30 years of experience in managing law firm accounts. As Accounts Manager, she oversees all financial transactions, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. With extensive experience in financial operations and compliance, she plays a key role in the firm’s success.
Known for her approachable nature, Michelle is often the first point of contact for clients and colleagues, always offering a warm welcome and a friendly, supportive presence. She takes great satisfaction in maintaining organisation and ensuring the firm’s finances are in order.
Michelle values the collaborative and close-knit environment at Farley Dwek, finding it especially rewarding to work as part of a supportive team. Outside of work, she enjoys walking, travelling, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Diane has over 40 years of nursing experience, predominantly within the NHS. She is a Registered General Nurse (RGN) and a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN). Early in her career, Diane worked as a community nurse before transitioning to Continuing Healthcare (CHC) 20 years ago.
Her extensive experience includes eligibility assessments, reviews, appeals, Fast Track, retrospective work, and care planning and commissioning. She has also assessed for Funded Nursing Care (FNC) contributions where appropriate.
Diane left the NHS in 2020 and began working with Farley Dwek, bringing her wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team. She is passionate about navigating the complexities of CHC with kindness and compassion, and she enjoys working in such a skilled and supportive environment.
Outside of work, Diane enjoys spending time with her family and appreciates the opportunity to give back through her role in supporting families through what can be a challenging process.
Carla is a Registered Adult General Nurse with over nine years of experience in NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC). She joined Farley Dwek in April 2024, bringing extensive knowledge of CHC frameworks and processes from her previous role at the Integrated Care Board.
Throughout her career, Carla has held key positions, including Adult Safeguarding and PREVENT Lead, Personal Health Budget Lead, and Fast Track Case Manager. She has also developed and delivered training on Fast Track processes for healthcare professionals. Carla is particularly passionate about safeguarding vulnerable adults, CHC appeals, and ensuring high-quality care decisions.
Carla holds a DipHE as an Adult General Nurse and is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. She has additional qualifications in Safeguarding Adults, Mental Capacity Assessments, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, and conflict management.
